Blessed

My kids are so great. We went school shopping today and my daughter immediately went for the clearance racks at Kohls and Target. I'm so proud! ;) My son only needed shorts, because he went to Goodwill last week with friends (just to hang out?? wha?) and got a bunch of Abercrombie, Hollister, Lacoste and AE shirts for $4 each - and they all look brand new!

So we came out today <$300 poorer, but for 2 teenagers, that's pretty good! (this doesn't include school supplies - have to wait for lists from the teachers for that stuff)

Anyway, we are just so blessed to be able to even go back-to-school shopping. I see stories on the news about kids who can't even get school supplies and here mine are getting new wardrobes every year. We discussed in the car that they need to go through their rooms and get all the clothes they don't wear anymore (that are still in great shape, of course) to donate to those less fortunate. I think it's so important to instill a sense of giving to kids. It's so easy for them, these days, to take things for granted. Heck, it's easy for ME to! It's not much to give, but maybe it'll help another teen feel better about themselves this year at school. And Lord knows, being a teenager is bad enough without worrying about what people are thinking because you don't have "the right clothes". :(

Thanking God today that I am able to provide for my children.

Love your teaching your kids to think of others by giving their things to Goodwill. We have so much and we can be a blessing to others when we give. Keep it up. They are learning great lessons.
